Thanks to your generosity, Project Fanaka Phase II is well underway and already transforming classrooms for thousands of students across rural Anosy. Since the start of the year, SEED has constructed and delivered 659 of the 1,307 planned desk-benches, reaching six out of the 17 schools targeted by the project. And progress continues, benefitting over 5,400 students.
Your Impact So Far: A Timeline of Transformation
In April, the first 214 desk-benches were flat-packed and delivered to Ranopiso, where they were assembled on-site and distributed to the local primary school. Previously, this school had just 16 usable desks for nearly 700 students. Now, every classroom is fully furnished and ready for learning. With schools on break, SEED’s team converted empty classrooms into temporary workshops, allowing the team to assemble, stencil, and distribute the benches right on location. Some students have already begun using the new desks during exam preparation sessions – a powerful reminder of how quickly your support translates into real opportunity.
In May, just a few weeks after Ranopiso, SEED's team completed a second major delivery: 228 additional desk-benches for the primary, lower secondary, and upper secondary schools in Ifarantsa. Before this, these schools had just 58 benches for over 1,000 students – leaving many children to sit on the floor during lessons. Thanks to you, all 12 classrooms across these schools are now fully furnished. Every student has a proper seat and a dignified learning environment, laying the foundation for better concentration, participation, and academic success.
In June, SEED’s team built enough benches for all 995 primary and lower secondary school students in Andranobory to sit their national exams in dignity – with only 10 usable benches available before the delivery.
Looking Ahead: What’s Next for 2025
SEED has now moved its carpentry site to Ankaramena, where 349 benches will be built for three more schools. After that, Tsimelahy will receive another 45 benches, continuing SEED's effort to ensure no child is left learning on the floor.
Your support is creating lasting change – not only in the structures of these schools, but in the lives and futures of the children who learn within them. This is not just about furniture. It is about restoring dignity to classrooms, improving access to quality education, and showing children that their future matters.
Thank you for being part of this transformative journey.
