Full construction activities at Antahovary Primary School were successfully completed in September 2025, marking a significant milestone for the school and SEED’s education infrastructure work. The construction team built a fully furnished three-classroom building along with attached teacher accommodation, creating a more supportive learning environment for both students and teachers. This followed the earlier completion of the school’s latrine blocks in August 2025, which now provide safe and hygienic facilities for the whole school.
The 10,000-litre rainwater harvesting system continues to operate well and now reliably supplies clean running water to the drinking and handwashing stations, as well as the Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) facility. Furthermore, the new school infrastructure was officially opened in early September, just in time for the start of the new academic year, allowing the school community to begin using the facilities immediately.
The provision of education infrastructure and classroom furniture now enables all 184 students to learn in a safe and healthy environment. This transformation directly addresses long-standing challenges faced by the community and creates the foundation for improved educational outcomes. In August, SEED also installed WASH murals and behavioural nudges across the school, promoting healthy behaviours. Our WASH education sessions resumed in September and will continue through October and into November 2025. These lessons aim to strengthen students’ understanding of hygiene, sanitation, and disease prevention, ensuring long-term behavioural change alongside the new infrastructure.
We would like to thank you for your continued support, which enabled us to reach all these milestones.
