Dear Rainforest Supporter,
The first part of 2026 has flown by, with plenty of activity at Finca Las Piedras, our field station in the heart of the Amazon. One of the main highlights of this time of year is the beginning of the Brazil nut seed germination process.
As you may already know, we work each year with local Brazil nut harvesters, training them in germinating seeds and reforesting their forests with Brazil nut trees. It’s a project we truly enjoy, and it all begins with preparing the seeds. This stage requires great patience to ensure each seed is in optimal condition before being placed in the germination beds. To achieve this, we carefully dry them in the shade, soak them in water, peel them with great care, and continuously remove any seeds that do not make it through the process.
Although the process has already begun, our young Brazil nut seedlings will not be ready for planting until December—making this a long but rewarding journey.
To date, our Brazil nut reforestation project has reached more than 18,000 hectares of forest, and we are excited to see the results of this year’s efforts.
Thank you for your continued support of our work!
