The VHA is excited to announce its next major initiative. We have acquired two more passenger cars for our 2028 Anniversary Heritage Train from the former York-Durham Heritage Railway: Cafe-Bar-Lounge no. 2514 and Baggage Car no. 9636. These two cars need to be repainted into VIA colours for our 2028 Heritage Train. Our goal is to raise $100,000 to restore and repaint these two historic railcars.
The VHA has acquired two more passenger cars for our 2028 Anniversary Heritage Train from the former York-Durham Heritage Railway: Cafe-Bar-Lounge 2514 and Baggage Car 9636. After many months of preparation and hard work, 2514 and 9636 have been moved out of Uxbridge, ON by rail. With the expert assistance of Accurate Railroad Construction, we cleared and re-opened the line from Uxbridge to Lincolnville in order to extract our two cars. Now the cars need to be repainted into VIA blue and yellow.
Donate to paint! The 2514 and 9636 need to be repainted into VIA colours for our 2028 Heritage Train. Our goal is to raise $100,000 CAD to restore and repaint these two historic railcars. With your generosity, we are confident we can reach this fundraising goal.
Once repainted and restored, these cars will be part of our heritage train that will help celebrate VIA's 50th anniversary in 2028, and will serve as ambassadors celebrating VIA's rich history as part of the passenger rail system that has connected Canadians for nearly half a century.
