With summer rain comes growth

Land of Hope, soaked in rain
Land of Hope, soaked in rain

Dear donor,

It's now the rainy season in Nigeria, which is challenging and dangerous due to massive destructive floods, thunderstorms, and lightning strikes. Many fatalities and fire outbreaks were recorded last month in Nigeria. Since it's not always safe for our children at Land of Hope to play outside, they stay inside and play board games, relax, read books, help out in the kitchen, do homework, or do something creative. Luckily, we also have our own school bus, bringing our children safely to school every morning.

Educational highlights
We're proud to highlight the impressive achievements of three of our children over the past months. Both Saviour and Rita received an Ambassador Award of Excellence for their outstanding performances in mathematics. Edet participated in The Children's Funfair Art Competition and took 1st place in the painting category under the theme “The impact of social media to a Nigerian child”. 10 years ago, Saviour was a traumatized little child, accused of being a witch. Rita was rescued 7 years ago, found in her village where she was accused of being a witch, beaten, and kept in chains so she couldn't escape. Edet was accused of being a witch and outcasted by his whole community 7 years ago. Look at the three of them now!

Update on Victory
After Victory's recent epileptic attack, where he fell and injured his head, staff at Land of Hope rushed him to the hospital where he was treated for a serious head trauma. Victory is now finally stable and wanted to start school again. He has remarkable determination. He still has a few tests to get done, even after the wound on his head has healed.

We cannot thank you all enough for your love and support! You give us the chance to give our children the education and medical care they need. It will never be forgotten.
