Kangemi is a vibrant and resilient community facing numerous challenges, particularly regarding access to education, healthcare, and a stable environment for its inhabitants. The Ngao Foundation has been actively addressing these issues by providing essential services and support to empower the community members. Our current endeavour is to secure permanent land for the Ngao Foundation, ensuring a stable and lasting home for our initiatives in Kangemi.
The Ngao Foundation faces a major challenge that hinders its ability to deliver quality programs and services to the people who need them the most: the lack of permanent land and facilities. The foundation currently operates from a rented space that is not enough to accommodate its growing programs, staff, volunteers, and beneficiaries. The foundation also has to deal with high rent, constant conflicts with eight landlords, and high electricity debt amounting to USD 7,000.
This piece of land will serve as the foundation for a brighter future for the children, women, and young people in the community. It will enable us to expand our programs, including education, healthcare, and vocational training, creating a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.
The long-term impact of this project is to contribute to the sustainable development goal of ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for the vulnerable people in Kangemi and beyond. It will also lead the expansion of the organisation and its programs such as education to impart skills to youth, children and women in the community.
