The Ngao Foundation extends heartfelt appreciation to all our generous donors and friends who have rallied behind our initiative to secure a safe space for children in Kangemi. Your support has been invaluable in contributing to our mission of providing a conducive environment for the growth and development of the children we serve.
Fundraising Campaign Overview:
In September 2023, a fundraising campaign was initiated to raise $150,000 to secure a suitable location for our Home for Hope project in Kangemi. The project seeks to create a safe and nurturing space for children, allowing them to thrive and enjoy their childhood.
Achievements and Contributions:
As of 1st September 2023, we are pleased to report that our fundraising efforts have resulted in a total of $10,945. We deeply appreciate the generosity of those who have already contributed to this cause. Your commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of these children is truly commendable.
Remaining Target and Urgent Need:
While we have made progress, there is still a significant amount to raise. Currently, we need an additional $139,055 to meet our fundraising goal and proceed with the acquisition of the identified land. The urgency of the situation cannot be overstated, as the availability of the chosen land is subject to demand.
Rationale for Chosen Location:
The identified land holds strategic importance due to its proximity to our current location and its centrality to the majority of children accessing Ngao Foundation services. Furthermore, its commercial viability presents an opportunity for local fundraising stability, ultimately reducing our dependency on external donors.
Challenges at Current Location:
The urgency of our relocation is underscored by the escalating challenges at our current location. Dealing with eight landlords has proven to be a significant obstacle. The defaulting in utility payments, especially electricity, directly impacts our operations, including water distribution to community households and essential support programs for children.
Way Forward and Continued Appeal:
The funds raised so far have been designated for this specific project, but we recognize that more support is needed to make a payment toward acquiring the identified land. We understand the profound impact that a secure and stable environment can have on the well-being of the children we serve.
