Leeds Women’s Aid to Build New Children and Young People’s Hub

As part of our mission to help women and children live free from abuse, we have launched an appeal to fund a new children and young people’s hub at our emergency refuge.

From the start of April last year to the end of March this year, we supported over 100 children and young people in refuge settings, with almost every adult accessing the refuge service having one or more children.

When families come to our refuges, they often arrive with nothing, and although then safe, most of our young people are living with the trauma of experiencing and/or witnessing domestic abuse. At a time when our government’s Domestic Abuse Act introduced children as victims of domestic violence and abuse in their own right, we are looking forward to developing and create a brand-new hub to support them.

The hub will be used for a variety of specialist one to one support, group therapy and activities and act as a sanctuary for children and young people to relax, play games or interact with other children, which will help their recovery from the impacts of domestic violence and abuse.

We are aiming to raise £20,000 through this public appeal - you can donate to us through this site and any donations will specifically go towards the hub.

Any support is hugely appreciated.
