Providing Farewells for Children with Cancer

We are honored to share a meaningful update about Isa, one of the brave children supported through this project. This quarter, Isa traveled to New York, USA, where she was accepted for an experimental treatment offered under compassionate use, representing a final window of hope for her and her family.

Isa’s medical team abroad extended an invitation to assess whether an innovative therapy—unavailable in our country—could provide comfort, symptom relief, and a chance for improved quality of life. This opportunity brought renewed strength to her family during an extremely delicate stage.

Thanks to your support, Sembrando Esperanzas was able to accompany Isa throughout this entire process. We assisted her family with emotional support, guidance, logistics, and essential needs so they could focus entirely on her care and well-being.

During her stay in New York, Isa received specialized evaluations and supportive interventions designed to ease her symptoms. Although the treatment was experimental, it offered her moments of hope, dignity, and compassionate care from a dedicated medical team.

Beyond the medical experience, Isa fulfilled one of her biggest dreams: seeing New York City. She enjoyed beautiful moments with her family—walking through the city, seeing the lights, and creating memories that will remain forever in their hearts. These moments of joy are the very essence of why this project exists.

This quarter, your generosity made it possible to:

• Support Isa’s family in coordinating international travel for medical purposes.
• Provide emotional and psychosocial assistance before, during, and after the trip.
• Ensure basic needs were covered so the family could stay fully focused on Isa.
• Strengthen communication between her family and the medical team abroad.

Sometimes, our mission brings not only joy and hope, but also deep sorrow and reflection. In recent weeks, we had to say goodbye to one of our beloved children, Andrés, a brave little soul who had fought valiantly against cancer. Tragedy struck doubly hard when his father—his constant caregiver—also passed away shortly after due to a hospital-acquired infection.

This heartbreaking loss reminds us of the silent battles fought not only by the children, but also by the families who stand beside them day and night. Andrés and his dad were inseparable. His father rarely left his side, often sleeping on hospital chairs and skipping meals just to be near his son. Their bond was a testament to unconditional love.

Thanks to your support, we were able to accompany their family with emotional and logistical assistance, covering part of the funeral expenses, and ensuring a respectful farewell surrounded by community and dignity. We also provided grief support to Andrés’ mother and siblings, who now face the road ahead with immense courage.

Even in loss, your donations bring light—helping us honor lives, support grieving families, and reaffirm our commitment to being there, especially in the hardest moments. Thank you for standing with us, not only in celebration, but also in mourning.
