The project will provide counselling to 7200 children who are severely affected by disasters or have been exposed to violence in the past years. 2) It will build the capacity of 360 educators, counselors, caregivers, from 360 classrooms who work with the children who have experienced trauma through their day-to-day experiences in their families and communities. 3) A playground for Child will be established for the Tree of Life Practice, sports and playing, stories and games.
7200 students from 30 schools exhibiting symptoms of distress and trauma in Gatumba, Mutimbuzi Commune. The UNICEF and the Ministry of Education (MoE) have tried to strengthen the education in emergencies preparedness and response to the ongoing socio-political crisis and natural disasters. There is need of comprehensive psychological care, spaces for games and sports and an overall safe school environment for psychological trauma which will be helping children in their recovery .
Trauma Training for Educators will be shared with educators and school support staff across 30 schools 360 teachers will be equipped with trauma - informed skills the Tree for of life approaches. 960 caregivers who work with children in communities as volunteers and care workers will be trained One year , children from 05-20 years will benefit special psychologically support care and mental health support 600 classrooms will adapt True of Life tool to be used.
The 360 trained educators will share skills and expand it in other schools at national level. The Tree of Life approaches will be integrated into Burundi educational school programs. Schools will adapt curricula and behavioral interventions to better meet the educational needs of students who have experienced trauma. 600 no professionals, family and community will be trained for follow up, assessment, advocacy and pairs to pairs education, parents are owners of playgrounds and materials
