Three new babies and their Mothers joined Tamar

Greetings from Pattaya Thailand. In today’s update I want to thank you for giving to our Helping Children from Ex-Sex workers program. In the last ten days it has been shown once again how important it is for us to have this program: Three women came to us and asked to move in with us and to join our program. All were in need and today I want to share about two of these women, as they brought some babies with them:

-  One woman in her thirties with a 5-month-old baby contacted us as well. She was abused by her boyfriend, then started working in a bar and got abused there and just wanted out. When she came to us, she told us that her Aunt was holding her baby “hostage” – meaning she was trying to get money from the woman so that she would care for the baby while the woman worked in the bar. Our team drove with the woman to her village, got the baby and both moved into our housing. We discovered that the Aunt had not taken care properly of the baby and did not feed it and so we used money from this fund to help the women get all the basics that she needed to take care of her child.

-  One other woman that we took in was working in “special massage” in Oman when she got pregnant. She gave birth there but could not continue to work and so was brought to the Thai Embassy and they arranged for her to fly back to Thailand where she heard about Tamar and asked if she could come to us. She has moved in with her 1.5 months old baby and we are currently caring for both

 - Another woman in our program gave birth to a healthy baby boy in February and is taking good care for him and that means that we have right now three small babies in our Nursery which is a challenge for our Staff at the Nursery as right now we also have school holidays in Thailand and our other kids are also there. Thankfully one of the Teenagers, the son of one of our women, has asked if he could earn himself some pocket money over the holiday and he is helping now out every day. He is taking the older children and organizes special programs for them - he even starts to bake cookies with them and decorates them. We are very proud that he is getting involved like this and the other kids like the extra attention that they are getting.

As you can read, there is never a dull day at Tamar Center. Thank you that you are making our work possible with your donations!
