Merry Christmas from everyone at Tamar to you all!
It is hard to believe that 2023 is already ending. What a year it has been! I am sure that you have many stories from the last year, and we have them as well. At the end of February, we finally opened our new Building with the Tamar Guesthouse and our renovated Restaurant. We finished a five-month long vocational and life Training for women coming out of the bars of Pattaya in August and had a busy season towards the end of the year. We took in a number of new and mostly very young girls in the second half of this year and are helping them now through counseling and vocational training to overcome some of the issues that they have faced in their life already. It has been a busy and challenging year with many ups and downs, and we are looking forward to our Christmas break that starts today. Many of our women are travelling home to be with their families, especially for New Year but some will also stay behind as going home is not an option for them. We will regroup with a day of reflection on the 4th of January to start 2024 together.
Last week we had a series of Christmas parties, which started with the Soi 6 Christmas Party, and on Monday we enjoyed our big Christmas Outreach and distributed one thousand Christmas gift bags in the bars of Pattaya. It was amazing to see the joy in the eyes of the women that received them, and our team enjoyed bringing some hope in the situation here in Pattaya. Last night we celebrated our internal Christmas Party with nice games, fun, tasty food, and gifts for everyone not only from Tamar but also from the parents of a big international school here in town.
We also want to say a big and heartfelt THANK YOU to you for your support and your help in this last year. You helped our children to be able to go to school, you helped us to run our Nursery and you helped us going on several fun outings like to the big waterpark and our fun trip to Dinosaur World. Our mothers are especially grateful to you for the monthly support that they receive. As you know, we pay half of the monthly support in cash and the other half we save in the name of the child and the mothers use it for purchasing school uniforms and other supplies that they need. All of this not only for the children that the women have with them in Pattaya, but we also support their children that are still with relatives in the villages. We could not have done this without you! Thank you for helping us this year!
With this we wish you a peaceful and contemplative Christmas, carefree holidays, good health, and God’s blessings for the year 2024. We are deeply grateful for your help, support, and friendship for us here at Tamar Center!
