Fundacion Sonrie was born in Pereira in 1996 through a group of health professional friends, who demonstrated the need for the population of patients with craniofacial anomalies, especially Cleft Lip and Palate. This is how they decided to form the foundation through a multidisciplinary group that will allow patients with CLP to access comprehensive treatment to improve their living conditions. Children with clefts need 17 years of medical treatment to recover totally with procedures like operations, orthodontics, speech therapy, and psychology, among others. The government covers just some operations, but the rest is also needed. In our Foundation, the Medical staff gives our patients the required treatments. Our vision is to rebuild smiles and help Children and families overcome this problem.
Our Medical staff gives our patients complete treatments that include Dental Care, Orthodontics, Nutrition, Speech Therapy, and Psychology, but we need help from donors and a lot of love to maintain the Foundation.
We have made more than 1.437 surgical procedures that have impacted 3.120 persons and 780 patients over the years. Each year we are attending 243 patients with different treatments. We are doing now monthly surgeries thanks to the help of several people all over the world!
