Fundacion Sonrie was founded in Pereira, Colombia, in 1996 to provide comprehensive care for people with cleft lip and palate. Thanks to our donors, we reached our initial goal of US$40,000. However, treatment requires long-term support. We are therefore expanding our goal to US$60,000 to continue providing medical, dental, psychological, speech therapy, and other essential services to our patients and their families.
Children with clefts need 17 years of medical treatment to recover totally with procedures like operations, orthodontics, speech therapy, and psychology, among others. The government covers just some operations, but the rest is also needed. In our Foundation, the Medical staff gives our patients the required treatments. Our vision is to rebuild smiles and help Children and families overcome this problem.
At the Sonrie Foundation, we work to restore hope to children and young people with cleft lip and palate. We know that this condition not only affects their smile, but also their eating, speech and confidence. How can you help us? By supporting us financially with any of these treatments: Reconstructive lip and/or palate surgeries Dental and orthodontic care Speech therapy and psychological support Field trips to indigenous communities Financial support for transportation
Our long-term impact is transforming lives: we provide surgeries, therapies and support to children, young people and adults with cleft lip and palate, improving their health, speech and self-esteem. We facilitate their education, inclusion and development, reducing inequalities in vulnerable communities. In addition, we raise awareness in society and strengthen access to treatments. Thanks to Global Giving and its donors. Join us and give a smile that lasts forever.
