HERD & Jabulani Safari Bring Joy to Jameyana

By Sunel Craythorne | Donor Care Officer

We are happy to share feedback with you on our long-running community project with Jameyana Primary School in Acornhoek, close to us at HERD.

On 26 February 2026, the HERD team, together with Jabulani Safari, brought smiles, songs, and sweet moments to the children of Jameyana Primary School. The visit formed part of the Nkosi Bar initiative, an ongoing effort to provide children with a healthier, more nutritious bar option while supporting their overall well-being.

A warm welcome filled with joy!

The team spent time with both Grade R and Grade 1 children, meeting 210 energetic Grade R children across five classes, and 245 enthusiastic Grade 1 children across four classes. As the teams entered each classroom, they were greeted with singing, excitement, and bright smiles.

The Nkosi Bars are already a firm favourite among the children and were handed out to eager little hands. Many children expressed how much they enjoy the chocolate, saying they wish they could have one every day. They described Nkosi Bars as “different” from regular sweets, sharing that they feel full and energized after eating them.

Healthy growth, happy children!

During the visit, all the children were successfully weighed as part of an ongoing project monitoring to ensure that the Nkosi bars provide all the nutrients needed for healthy growth.

The team also had the opportunity to speak with three parents who shared heartfelt gratitude for the project. They noted visible positive changes in their children, including improved happiness and healthier growth since the introduction of Nkosi Bars. Their appreciation reinforced the meaningful impact this initiative is having within the community.

Teachers and staff were equally welcoming, offered insight into the children’s progress, and expressed their thanks for the ongoing support.

None of this would be possible without caring individuals like you who believe in uplifting children through nutrition, kindness, and community collaboration.

Thank you for making a difference!

Your continued support helps ensure that children at Jameyana Primary School receive the joy, encouragement, and nourishment they deserve.

Together, we are building healthier futures with one Nkosi Bar at a time.
