Hidden Girls Netherlands

Thanks to your support, Hidden Girls continues to grow and reach more girls and young women living in protected shelters across the Netherlands.

Today, the program is active in 11 shelter locations, where participants take part in weekly trauma-sensitive dance and kickboxing sessions. Over the past year, we delivered nearly 500 workshops and reached more than 105 girls and young women who have experienced domestic violence, abuse, exploitation or other forms of severe insecurity.

For many participants, Hidden Girls has become a positive and stable moment in their week. Through movement, they build confidence, connect with others and experience moments of freedom, joy and belonging.

The impact of the program is best captured in our new documentary, which follows the stories behind Hidden Girls and gives a glimpse into the safe spaces our coaches create every week.

We’re proud to share some incredible growth within our Hidden Girls project. What began as a smaller initiative to empower girls living in safe houses in two cities is now expanding its reach across even more cities throughout the Netherlands.

Currently, we are active in 12 safe houses, where each week, girls participate in boxing and dance classes designed to strengthen both body and mental health. These sessions provide a safe and empowering space where movement becomes a tool for healing, confidence, and connection.

A cornerstone of the project is our dedicated team of female coaches, all of whom are being trained within our Coaches Academy, held monthly at the Nike European Headquarters. Through this training, they deepen their understanding of trauma-informed care, learning how to use movement as a pathway to emotional recovery and resilience.

This is a powerful step forward—and we couldn’t be more grateful for the continued support that makes it all possible. Together, we are building a network of strength, safety, and hope for these vulnerable but powerful young girls.
