Dear Friends and Supporters,
Thank you for your donations toward our HIV awareness and condom bank project for Nigerian universities. Your support comes at a critical time, though we have not yet raised enough to begin the program.
While gathering support, we have discovered an even more urgent situation. University administrators at several state and federal institutions have reported alarming problems, including unsafe abortions, students abandoning newborns, and high rates of sexually transmitted infections among their student populations. These findings confirm that our work is desperately needed.
We have used this preparation time wisely. We have begun conversations with university health centers about placing condom banks in discreet locations. We have identified student leaders who can serve as peer educators. We have also developed educational materials that address the specific health challenges students are facing.
However, with amount raised, we cannot yet install the condom banks, or begin the educational workshops. Students continue to face health risks while we work to secure adequate funds.
The need for this project grows clearer every day. Without access to protection and information, students remain vulnerable to HIV, other infections, and dangerous situations.
We are asking for your continued support to help us begin this vital work. Your contribution can help provide condoms and health information that may prevent infections and save lives.
With sincere appreciation,
Joy O. Etubi
