Patients appreciate Kudvumisa Foundation

People like Nonhlanhla of Shewula are so grateful for the great help that we provide them as patients. As a 52-year-old woman who has lived with congestive cardiac failure for many years, she needs help with monthly transportation to the hospital. Her husband died and left her with 4 kids who no longer stay with her because they are older.

Luckily, she is not home alone because she stays with one of her relatives’ children. Her problem began in 2011 when she was diagnosed with TB and was admitted in the TB hospital where she stayed for 9 months. Ever since she was discharged from the hospital in 2012 she uses a wheelchair to move around.

Every month she has to see a doctor and get her monthly pill supplies, as they are unavailable at the local clinic in Shewula. Every month her son would hire a car for her to get to the hospital, but then it became too expensive for him so he could not do that any longer. Nonhlanhla heard about Kudvumisa and the CHIPS outreach through her neighbors.  She then called to connect with our community health program to enquire for help with her monthly transport issue.

As an organization, we are now able to be of help to her as we offer to transport her to the hospital for her monthly appointments. We periodically deliver a bucket (supplied from Baptist Global Response or BGR) with many basic things that a sick or bedridden person needs. When we visit, she so thankful for the help she receives from the organization.
