Empower 40 Colombian kids in extreme poverty

In Colombia, the number of infected people is increasing every day. Fortunately everyone in the center of the Somascan fathers is fine.

Below is a letter written by one of the children attending the Juvenil Emiliani Center.

"Dear donors,

I'm a boy from the Juvenil Emiliani Center, I greet you with affection. 

I'm telling this story in the middle of a pandemic that has reached every corner of our planet. The Coronavirus is presenting us with new challenges in human relationships. It has locked us in our homes, depriving us of our freedom. Our way of life has changed: we have to stay away from each other, we cannot embrace each other, we have to take care of ourselves for our own good in order not to be infected.

In the center during the day we carry out academic and human training activities. We participate in technical workshops: woodworking, electricity and metalworking, and participate in recreational and sports activities. This gives us the confidence to remain united and gives us hope of getting out of the pandemic we are experiencing. We would like to visit our families but the best thing for all of us is to stay here, now;  we believe that when the situation improves we will have time to go and stay with them.
We are sure that soon there will be a new horizon: we'll go out again, we'll go to the park, we'll travel again, we'll embrace each other and return to normality.

We want to tell you that we are fine, that we feel accompanied, guided and cared for by the Fathers and educators in the center.
