BALAJOTHI CENTRE FOR THE DISABLED
PROJECT TITLE : PROVIDE A HOME TO 150 SPECIAL CHILDREN IN INDIA
PROJECT # 24535
REPORT DUE BY - APRIL 28, 2018 : REPORT SENT ON - MARCH 26, 2018
We should recognize the fact that street children, orphaned children and disabled children all come under the term ‘distressed or disadvantaged children’ and accordingly need to be provided for. While statistics are available for street children not much information is available on orphaned or disabled children. Our concern mainly is to explore ways and means to provide protection, care and support to such children. This should form one of the main strategies of society and other civic and governmental bodies.
Some thoughts on the lives of such children
- Vulnerable and defenceless
- Exploitation by anti-social elements
- Helpless in all areas
- Easy prey to unscrupulous persons
- Open to dangers of being kidnapped
- Dependent on others for support
- No economic support
- Need for affection, security and sense of belongingness
- Rejection by families due to their inability to provide for themselves, let alone provide for the family, as generally expected
- Poor health due to lack of access to nutritious food, sanitation and medical care
- No hope for the future.
Balajothi is committed to extend its activities for providing a shelter to such children. In this context plans have been drawn up for the setting up of a residential type of home which will ensure protection and sustainability, all through their lives.
The projected cost for setting up a fully functional residential home works out to around $ 75,000. The project comprises of 4 phases, 1) purchase of land, 2) fencing, 3) construction, and 4) equipping the facility. Undoubtedly this is a very big project, big beyond our imagination, but we are thinking big and planning ahead for the sake of these helpless children.
Balajothi’s grateful thanks to you, dear donor, YOU have made generous donations to the extent of $ 2674 to date. Sharing this dream with your friends and family circles will provide a home of their own where they can have a peaceful and sheltered life in a gated community – SNEHA GOODU (NEST OF FRIENDSHIP).
Balajothi thanks GlobalGiving for their wonderful services, in the areas of funding and in opening the eyes of society to the needs of our special children, through advocacy and education. This project could never become a reality without their support !! THANK YOU GLOBALGIVING.
