HOME FOR 150 DISABLED ORPHAN KIDS AT MYSURU, INDIA

(PROJECT # 24535)

REPORT DUE DATE : JAN 5, 2017

REPORT SENT ON    : DEC 22, 2016

THE CHALLENGE

The importance of providing a safe and secure housing to the disabled children and to care for their needs lifelong is no ordinary challenge.  The need cannot be over stressed as it is increasingly becoming evident that this has become the need of the hour, due to the following reasons:

Affluent parents are busy with economic activities aimed at further increasing their prosperity;

Poor parents are forced to work in order to earn their daily bread;

Siblings are (with rare exceptions) not interested in caring for their unfortunate disabled brother or sister who needs round the clock care lifelong.

The future of the disabled child after the expiry of his / her parents is left to any one’s imagination.

THE SOLUTION

WE PROPOSE

·        To provide shelter, food, medicine, special education, training and love to 150 orphan children who are disabled, destitute, poor and underprivileged

·        To provide vocational training and appropriate skills training to trainable disabled children as they grow from childhood to adult stage

·        To run community development programs for over 2000 beneficiaries including the advocating for  provision of basic health, safe drinking water, hygiene, sanitation, sexual health, income generation services, vaccinations, indigenous knowledge and other medical programmes and services to illiterate and poor rural villagers in the surrounding areas

·        To generate employment opportunities through skills training to unemployed youth.

·        To assist in developing literacy among the rural illiterate population in the area

·        To engage the elderly who are still in good physical and mental condition to share their values and guide the children in a friendly manner

·        To introduce and involve in life-saving and life-changing humanitarian projects

·        Rural poor communities to whom we provide rural development aid and assistance.

THE IMPACT

The impact we hope to achieve will be three-fold.

 Firstly the direct benefits to the beneficiaries in terms of improvement in quality of life, meaningful learning and sustainable activities, disciplined and organized lives under supervision, learning appropriate living skills and a holistic life style, and to top it all, a happy life.

Secondly, on the social front, these children would live under the care and guidance of dedicated caregivers, in a gated community, without being a stigma in civilized society.  Finally, it will be society’s call to meet this challenge.

Thirdly, we envisage the involvement of the neighborhood community by imDSC00009.JPG
