Project Report | Feb 12, 2020
Makar Sankranti

By Margaret Rose | Marketing Manager

Dear Benefactor,

Greetings from Margadarshi!!!

We are happy to inform you that all our students had 10 days holiday during December, as it was Christmas season, and most of them went to their native place to spend time with their parents, friends and beloved ones and have returned to Home after celebrating new year with the family.

Soon after their return in January, they had another festival waiting for them! The Harvest Festival, which is celebrated throughout India and it is called as Makar Sankranti / Pongal in Karnataka. This is one of the important festival and every one irrespective of caste, creed and religion celebrates it with pomp Our girls/women also celebrated it with great joy and happiness. On this auspicious day, they wore new clothes and greeted each other. They decorated the main entrance of the Centre with beautiful rangolis and flowers. It’s a festival of togetherness and delicacies. The main cuisine of this festival is a dish made of Til and Jaggery, the mixture is called "Ellu-Bella", which indicates to live our life in peace and harmony with others. Added to this another signature dish sweet Pongal , prepared with rice, jaggery, grated coconut, milk, chana dal and dry fruits, was the culmination to this happy occasion

We thank you for your continued support which empower them holistically. You are the reason for their happiness and smile!
