Dear Benefactor,
They say “Dreams helps one to surmount disability and taste success.” This quote is just so inspiring and the story of Rajeshwari would do complete justice to this saying.
Rajeshwari Dundayya Kanabaragi is a charming 22 years old girl now, always with a smiling face. But her birth was not so, for she was born with, both her legs and arms struck to her chest. She hails from a most backward area, where such babies born with disabilities are considered a taboo, hated by both parents and the society at large. But, Rajeshwari was lucky to have a very loving grandmother, who stood by her.
As per doctors advise, Rajeshwari underwent a corrective surgery, when she was 9 month old, so that her arms and legs were free. Her grandmother used to carry her to her pre-school (Angawadi) and other places till she was 7 years old. After which, her father refused to send her to school but only with her grandmother’s support, she joined in school. Rajeshwari starting walking with help of crutches, from 2nd standard onwards. She used to feel depressed when people used to look at her in an insulting way, walking with crutches, again her grandmother motivated and encouraged her to use it and was her constant support.
Rajeshwari, started growing up with a positive mindset and concentrated only her talents, so much so, she completed her 10th standard, in her village Halagimardi in Belagavi, Karnataka, India, by scoring 84.64%. Post which, she completed her 3 years Diploma in Commercial Practice, by scoring 85.11%. During this time, Margadarshi staff, met her and encouraged her to continue her studies at Bangalore. Rajeshwari, for the last 2 years is a resident of Margadarshi Residential Centre and is currently doing her final year B.Com at Arihant Institution of Commerce and Management and has secured 8.92 (SGPA) in her 4th semester B.Com examination 2023. She is looking forward to get one step closer to her dreams – of working in a Financial Sector, like Banks.
Rajeswari says that “My struggle only motivated me to strive better in life.”
