Hope and Progress at San Jose Home

By Rocio Rebagliati | International Community Referent

Hello Friends!

In the past months, we've harnessed collective efforts to enhance the living conditions and future prospects of those we serve. With your unwavering support, we've initiated a transformation that touches the lives of nearly 50 vulnerable elderly residents. Since the start of our emergency campaign, our goal has been to save San José Home and the lives of all its residents. Now, we are starting to see the first sprouts of that seed, the initial result of all our efforts.

Our Collective Achievements:

  • Architectural Revitalization: Through a collaborative partnership with the Ministry of Public Works, we've successfully completed the architectural plans for Hogar San José. These comprehensive plans outline crucial interventions, including new constructions, showcasing our commitment to creating a safe and comfortable environment for our residents.
  • Empowering Infrastructure: Working alongside skilled electrical engineers, we've restructured the electrical layout, ensuring uninterrupted power supply for essential facilities like elevators. This sustainable solution not only improves daily operations but also enhances the quality of life for our residents.
  • Critical Utility Enhancement: We've taken proactive steps to address urgent gas-related issues, ensuring safety and well-being. Our next endeavor involves the complete reconstruction of the gas installation to adhere to contemporary standards, a project currently in the preparatory stages.
  • Combatting Dampness: We've commenced the process of repairing spaces affected by persistent moisture infiltration, ensuring a healthier and more comfortable living environment.
  • Nurturing Surroundings: Through dedicated efforts, we've rejuvenated the gardens, eliminated weeds, established a flourishing vegetable garden, and restored the primary garden space. With the support of corporate volunteers, we've sustained these improvements to create an uplifting atmosphere for our residents.

Despite our shared successes, we recognize the challenges posed by Argentina's socio-economic landscape. In the face of uncertainty, economic volatility, and rising multidimensional poverty, we face obstacles that hinder timely project planning. The current climate makes it nearly impossible to secure fixed prices and project timelines.

Yet, we persevere. Every day, Mensajeros de la Paz Argentina continues to dedicate itself to the well-being of San José Home´s residents. Despite the prevailing uncertainties, we remain steadfast in our pursuit to provide them with a nurturing home.

None of this would be possible without the extraordinary support of GlobalGiving and our incredible donors. Your contributions have unlocked doors, bridging the gap between dreams and reality. Step by step, we are breathing life back into San José Home, knowing that we are on the right path, together. We extend our heartfelt thanks for standing beside us, for sharing in our vision, and for being a beacon of hope for the residents of San José Home. Together, we're not just restoring a home; we're restoring lives, one step at a time.

Today, our most urgent need is to finish repairing dampness damage, which needs to be completed before the integral infrastructure replacement project starts. However, in order to proceed, a substantial amount of funds still need to be secured. We ask for your help to repair all the filtration issues as soon as possible. Now is the time!

With all our gratitude,

The Mensajeros Family.
