United by the Blue and White: Sharing the World Cup Passion at San Jose Home

Dear friends and supporters,

This quarter, the halls of our San José Home filled with a special kind of magic: the overwhelming excitement of the 2026 World Cup. For our residents, who have often arrived here after facing deep loneliness or extreme vulnerability, sharing this global celebration as a family has been a deeply healing experience.

A Bridge of Memories and Shared Emotions

Football in Argentina is far more than a sport; it is a shared language that connects generations and builds community. Throughout the matches, our residents gathered in front of the TV screen, wearing the national colors and waving flags. But the most beautiful moments happened between the plays. Watching the national team sparked a flood of memories. Our seniors shared stories of past World Cups, recalled the legendary matches of their youth, and remembered how they used to celebrate with their own families decades ago. These conversations created a beautiful bridge between the past and the present, reviving long-forgotten memories and strengthening their sense of belonging.

Combating Loneliness Through Celebration

At San José Home, our interdisciplinary team works around the clock to provide medical, psychological, and physical care. However, we know that emotional well-being and human connection are just as essential to a long, healthy life. Sharing the collective illusion and joy of the World Cup has given our residents a sense of active participation. It has made them feel connected not only to each other but also to the heartbeat of the entire country. This shared joy is one of our most powerful tools to combat the isolation and loneliness that many older adults face.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our volunteers, collaborators, and donors. It is because of your unwavering support that we can continue to offer a safe, warm space where our residents can not only receive the specialized care they need but also live, celebrate, and smile as a family. Thank you for keeping the passion and dignity alive at San José Home!

With gratitude and hope,
