Home for 50 Elderly People in Argentina

The adults who live in Hogar San José received the visit of corporate volunteers who helped us to put the garden of the house in order.

They pruned the grass, planted flowers and shared a beautiful moment painting and restoring the spaces that older adults normally enjoy on sunny days.

The winter has been strong in the province of Buenos Aires, the temperature has dropped considerably and we have had some strong storms that affected some parts of the garden, felling trees and a part of the farm ... however, that has not prevented us from filling their lives of color with these meetings of volunteers and adaptations of the common spaces.

On the April of 8th, the people of Hogar San José celebrated the 83rd jubilee. There was a big celebration, which was organized by coordinator Analía Chamorro. Thanks to the volunteers of Mensajeros de la Paz and all the assistants of Hogar San José, who supported the event from the start.

Elderly people of the Club de dia en Flores also came, which is another place of Mensajeros de la Paz, to accommodate the festivities.

We had a great program with live music, dance and food throughout the afternoon. We started the event with an official part, for this reason three soldiers came in uniform to accompany the celebration. Together with some elderly people they took up the flags and sang the national anthem. A very emotional moment. Anahi welcomed everyone and gave a great speech.

And we started dancing together with the elderly, different singers also came for this. Meanwhile we enjoyed a snack, a meal and a time to chat with the elderly. In the middle of the event a man gave a speech about Tango, which is his passion. A few people started dancing Tango. A very nice moment. Then I had a good conversation with the man, which danced Tango throughout his life and he could tell me a lot about his passion. It was very interesting!

Overall the elderly people of Hogar San José were the protagonists of the party and the event was their celebration. All in all we had a very nice celebration, with all the people celebrating the good work of the Hogar San José.
