Vaccination against COVID-19 has started!

By Lucas Pompilio | Volunteer

With deep emotion and happiness, both residents and establishment workers received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. They will be getting the second dose in the next days to complete the vaccination plan.

“The excitement was incredible. We have been waiting some weeks for this moment. The atmosphere was a nice and happy anxiety because the elderly adults and the household members were able to receive their well-deserved and long-awaited vaccine” said Analía Chamorro, general coordinator or Mensajeros de la Paz.

The area was conditioned to host the local health representatives while respecting the protocols and regulations so the phase could be done properly, achieving the immunization of each San José Member.

Due the pandemic, San José home maximized the sanitation cares such as cleaning and health prevention at all hours. We have made a protocol to protect everyone which allowed to preserve the health and integrity. This is why the arrival of the vaccine meant a crucial milestone in the beginning of the year.

San José home is a long-stay residence prepared to handle, comprehensively, people over the age of 60. With a non-stop attention every day of the year, we encourage interdisciplinary work to attend each case in particular, giving residents voice priority and opinion. Furthermore, it is offered a nutritional care based on their needs.

We have achieved one important goal. With donors’ help we can beat every challenge that stands in our way. Thank you for the unflagging support!
