We are thrilled to announce our recent collaboration with Barrios de Pie, an organization committed to community development and social justice. Through this partnership, we will be able to maintain and enhance the gardens of San José Home, providing a beautiful and peaceful space for seniors to enjoy. Barrios de Pie's expertise and dedication to community development make them an ideal partner for this initiative.
We are also proud to report that the latest gardening event was a resounding success. The Telefónica Movistar Foundation organized a volunteer day at San José Home with the participation of 23 volunteers. The activity began with a welcome breakfast where volunteers could get to know each other and exchange impressions about teamwork. After the welcome talk, the volunteers toured the Home´s facilities, where they had the opportunity to meet some of the residents and understand their needs.
The main activity consisted of cleaning the central garden of the Home, where Vanesa, our corporate volunteering activity coordinator, provided them with the necessary instructions to carry out this task. After lunch, the volunteers continued their work by planting flowers and painting flowerbeds in the central garden. To conclude the day, a group of devoted volunteers inaugurated a new sanctuary for a Virgin, as most of the residents are religious. This excited them when they saw it in the center of the courtyard.
The event was a testament to the positive impact that green spaces can have on seniors' well-being. We appreciate the Telefónica Movistar Foundation volunteers for their collaboration in San José Home, as their valuable help allows us to continue improving the quality of life for our residents.
Green spaces play a critical role in supporting the physical and mental health of older individuals. They provide a space for relaxation, exercise, and socialization, which are essential components of a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, green spaces can improve air quality, reduce noise pollution, and provide habitat for wildlife. The partnership with Barrios de Pie and the recent gardening event demonstrate our commitment to providing a safe and healthy environment for seniors.
