Sarah's Circle is on the final fundraising stretch to purchase and renovate a new home for Sarah's Circle at 4836 N. Sheridan Road. The building will house our current programs with increased and improved space for the individualized case management and clinical counseling that make a long-term difference in women's lives. The building project will also create ten new studio apartments of permanent supportive housing for women with a history of chronic homelessness and a disability.
Despite the evolution of our program, we are still located in a suite of rooms designed for a drop in center only. Program staff members have creatively repurposed office and storage space to accommodate more intensive individualized services, such as case management, clinicial services, and housing assistance, but we have reached the limits of our current facility. These programs are essential to fighting homelessness for society's most vulnerable women, over 900 last year.
Although much of the money has been raised with the support of foundations, government grants, local community members, we must raise more private dollars in order to finish fundraising. Your donations will help us close on the building and begin construction in time to move into our new building in the fall of 2012.
With more program offices, multipurpose rooms, and housing units, Sarah's Circle will be able to expand and improve the services that make a long-term difference in women's lives, such as counseling, case management, and housing assistance. Our new space will truly be a transformative tool in the way Sarah's Circle provides service and will help us accomplish our ultimate goal of ending homelessness for the women we serve. The project will improve the lives of thousands of women.
