This project seeks to construct 100 safe, permanent, and dignified houses for 100 elderly persons living in extreme vulnerability in the rural areas of Tororo District. The elderly, over 70 years old, some of whom never married, widowed and with no children or close relatives to care for them. The Project will also start a food bank program, provide support for Medical care partnerships and services and financial assistance for other basic needs.
More than 100 elderly persons in Tororo live in extreme vulnerability most of whom never married, widowed and with no children or close relatives to care for them. They reside in a collapsing, dusty, and heavily leaking structures that are not only unfit for human habitation but also very dangerous. They are no longer able to engage in productive work due to age-related limitations and are extremely poor. They have no incomes and rely entirely on the goodwill of neighbors and community members.
The project will construct 100 decent houses, provide access to medication services, and nutritious feeding support. The project also establish a food bank initiative, financial assistance for basic needs and improve overall well-being and quality of life of the 100 extremely vulnerable and poor elderly members of the community.
The project will provide100 elderly persons in the community with decent and dignifying place for the rest of their lives and final years, helping them to live comfortable, decent, and happy lives. It will also provide him with sustainable access to nutritious food and the critical medical care that he desperately needs right now. This will ensure the extremely vulnerable in the community are provided with better living conditions and well-being.
