At Development Alert, we are committed to restoring dignity, care, and hope among elderly persons and vulnerable women in rural Uganda—many of whom face daily struggles with poverty, isolation, and limited access to essential services.
In Uganda, approximately 4–5% of the population is aged 60 and above, and a significant proportion of these elderly individuals live in rural areas. Many depend on subsistence farming or family support, yet over 60% lack reliable access to healthcare, nutritious food, and social protection services. Elderly women are particularly vulnerable, often facing neglect, limited income opportunities, and the responsibility of caring for grandchildren.
Through this project, we provide:
Food support and nutrition assistance
Access to basic healthcare and medication
Livelihood support and small income-generating opportunities for vulnerable women
Community-based care and social support to reduce isolation
For many elderly individuals—especially grandmothers caring for orphaned grandchildren—this support is life-changing. It not only eases their burden but also strengthens entire households and communities.
We sincerely thank you for your continued generosity and commitment to Development Alert. Your support is bringing comfort, dignity, and renewed hope to those who need it most.
Together, we are ensuring that the elderly and vulnerable women are seen, supported, and valued.
