After a devastating earthquake, according to WHO, the affected regions in Turkey and Syria are home to around 23 million people including 1.4 million children. Shelter has been critical area of intervention those who has lost their houses and businesses. With this project, we try to solve shelter problem with sustainable YUVA Project. YUVA will be a solution shelter problem for families and also support local manufactures in the region.
Solving the housing problem after a disaster requires a serious amount of resources. In the region, there are very limited production facilities that can meet the housing needs, and they have also been affected by the earthquake. Moreover, the people who can produce are also among the communities affected by the earthquake. Since the project involves production to meet the housing need, cash is a critical resource for raw materials.
As Support to Life, we are launching the environmentally friendly YUVA project to address the housing and infrastructure challenges in disaster areas. YUVA is designed to provide a practical, intelligent, healthy, and cost-effective solution for those who need mid- to long-term shelter and resilient living space in earthquake zones. After meeting the urgent shelter needs, YUVA can be repurposed in the same location or moved to another location for various other purposes.
Local Production: Possibility to build in local workshops if provided with raw materials, thus minimizing logistical obstructions. Local Employment: Local-scale production may provide employment opportunities for local handymen. Environment-Friendly Approach: Building materials not only do not cause adverse health effects, but can also be safely returned to the natural environment when life-cycle is complete.
