Hondao serves around 10,000 older adults who live alone, face difficult circumstances, or live with disabilities. Through year-round home-based, community-based, and program-based services, we respond to a wide range of needs. Our services include home visits, long-term care services, accompanied shopping or delivery of daily supplies, accompanied medical appointments, health promotion activities, dream fulfillment support, and festive community activities, among other services.
Taiwan became a super-aged society in 2025, with the older adult population reaching 20%. This means that out of every five people, one is an older adult over the age of 65. Our focus extends beyond the personal challenges faced by older adults, such as physical health, mental well-being, social engagement, and financial security, to include broader social issues, such as building a suitable and comprehensive care support network and challenging social stereotypes.
Hondao cares for older adults with disabilities, dementia, or other health conditions. Many face a variety of challenges, including living alone and financial difficulties. Hondao has developed more than 40 programs across six areas: Healthy Aging, Quality Care, Financial Security, Self-Actualization, Age-Friendly Environment, and Talent Cultivation, aiming to maintain the personal health of older adults, improve care and support systems across Taiwan, and promote a positive image of aging.
In 2023, Hondao made 33,320 home visits, supported 6,414 older adults with disabilities or dementia through various services, and provided 197,985 meals or easy-to-prepare food supplies. In addition, Hondao participated in policy committees and expert consultations on care for older adults, sharing our practical experiences with policymakers, businesses, and nonprofit organizations to promote more effective policies.
