Highest unemployment rates mean that people are facing poverty and enormous challenges. Approximately 33% of our families face food shortages and high rates of abuse. As a result crime and emotional health is impacted. Homelessness in the city has risen to the highest point and Covid has increased the number of child headed homes. Students are behind in their learning and have dropped out of classes as a result of poverty challenges.
Hope SA focuses on a variety of challenges facing poor communities and child headed homes. We provide daily hot meals and basic neccesities to children and poor communites. We support victims of GBV and the girl child with education and tools with the Safer women care packs. Every month a family recieves a food hamper which helps sustain a family of 4 for a month, Each hamper contains contains PPE ( sanitizer and Masks) as Covid-19 safety measures. Community gardens provide sustainable options.
Hope SA food drives ensure that children grow up healthy and are able to focus on their education. We provide hope to families by alleviating the day to day need to put food on the table. PPE supplied helps reduce Covid transmission. Our Safer women care packs educates and empowers women and reduces non attendance to school. Hope SA projects helps provide for the well being and health of 1000's of families.
