Things don't always go as planned. Those are the times our support networks matter most. Where would you be without those people who have your back? For many, Jake's is that group. What started as a goal of helping 15 babies at an orphanage in Peru grew to a nonprofit able to support diverse hygiene and basic modern needs.
For people living in poverty, it is significantly more difficult to climb the equity ladder and reach a point of financial self sufficiency. One in 3 American Families experience diaper need. One in 4 women struggle to buy period supplies. Two in 3 people will have incontinence during their lifetimes. People in poverty experiencing these difficulties need support in meeting hygiene needs to experience self worth.
We need to help all people access the tools they need to go beyond survival to also thrive. Hope is a vital tool in overcoming difficult circumstances, including poverty situations. Research shows that poor children who later succeed share a commonality: hope. These people have the ability to understand self-worth, to feel capable and motivated. Our hygiene programs provide that basic sense of personal worth.
Jake's provides hygiene needs and basic modern needs products to our network of partners, including faith-based organizations, This systems provides the foundation we need to collaboratively tackle the root causes of poverty. Together, we help more individuals grow to self sufficiency. With the strength each needs from our network tree, each become its own seed capable of taking root.
