Challenge

Although health provision in Kenya is a devolved function, the county government has not managed to effectively address many problems within the healthcare sector. These include a shortage of trained healthcare professionals, a lack of technology and access to information concerning the latest medical research and care techniques, the lack of sufficient medications medical products and equipment, and the high cost of medical care, which has lead to prevalence of avoidable maternal complications

Solution

With the support of private donors, HWCC will be able to provide crucial quality healthcare to the most vulnerable and deprived members of the community, providing essential support to existing but inadequate public healthcare institutions in Pre- and Post-Natal Care and Services, Counseling and Support Services, treatment of NCD's and Children's Immunization Services. Using a community-based systemic approach, including awareness campaigns, hygiene education programs, counseling services

Long-Term Impact

Using a community-based systemic approach, including awareness campaigns, hygiene education programs, counseling services and cross-sector cooperation, we hope to contribute to a significant reduction in the rates of infant mortality, non-communicable diseases and maternal health complications, thereby improving the overall health and well-being of our entire community and region and consequently we hope to establish a model which will inspire other communities facing similar healthcare issues.
