At 8 years old, Isabella already knows what life miracles are. She was born in Sonsón, a town located in the east region of Antioquia department. When she was a most toddler, her mother identified that Isabella had discomfort in her health and immediately went to a clinic to verify her diagnosis.
A year ago she came with her family to our Children's Hospital San Vicente Fundacion, where after several exams, she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a type of hematologic and bone marrow cancer that is characterized by an excess of immature white blood cells, that affects the immune development of the person.
For his family, who has been present throughout the treatment, at first it wasn’t easy to understand the news, especially because they knew that from that moment his life would change completely and they should move to Medellin city. The biggest impact they had was to meet other children who were sick like Isabella and see front the other reality that they were not used to.
The accompaniment of our specialists has given for her new reasons to move forward, such as those she has found in the Hospital´s Classroom. This place has been indispensable for her development and recovery, our teachers work with all children and their families, providing emotional, cognitive, playful and pedagogical assistance so that his stay at the Children's Hospital San Vicente Fundación are more pleasant.
Isabella has been a very strong and brave girl, and she is the one who has taught her family that miracles exist and that the biggest reason to prove it is to be alive and to know that, despite the obstacles, there are always reasons to get ahead. With your help, you allow more children like her to access spaces like these, where life is the main protagonist.
