Cristian David has learned to value life more at the Hospital´s classroom. This child had a traffic accident at the end of last year and this left sequels to his body, which has led him to be hospitalized 3 times in our Children's Hospital San Vicente Fundacion. His wounds developed an infection, so he had to be operated on and was in a wheelchair and crutches for a while.
During his stay in our Hospital, Cristian attended many sessions of the Hospital´s Classroom; there he had the great experience of learning to play the piano in the music classes that are offered in this space to all children. From the classroom, the teachers want to seek to sensitize patients and their families through the rhythms, sounds, and melodies, in order to raise their mood, changing their attitudes and thoughts about the process they are going through.
The Hospital´s Classroom management is personalized, although want is sought an integration between all the children and their families; the teachers and the other members of the programs that the Classroom has, also understand that the situation of each child is different, that their health status, his past and family environment are not the same, and that is why they require a treatment unique and special. That is why every week, they rethink the class to achieve better results and thus see the expected evolution in every child.
For Cristian David, the time to attend the Classroom was the most expected during his stay at the Hospital, and he was aware that each of the activities there was different and they helped him to improve his health condition and his personal development; when he entered there, he felt as if the pain disappeared. Through the new rhythms that his teachers taught him and that he didn´t know before, and the time that he was able to share with other kids, he says that: "Thanks to the activities of the Hospital´s Classroom, especially the music classes, I learned to respect myself and my friends".
Just like Cristian David, there are many more children who can help with your donations to maintain adequate space and with the necessary elements to make each class an unparalleled experience while they are in the process of attention in our Children's Hospital.
