Cheerful, friendly and music lover, that’s how Jakin is. He’s 10 years old and arrived the San Vicente Fundación Chil Hospital from Maicao, a town in La Guajira department, northern Colombia.
He was hospitalized for one and a half months and his mother Annerys proved to be truly committed with the accompaniment of her son during the hospitalization and learning process in the hospital classroom.
“The hospital classroom is a space where children join different activities during their hospitalization; in Jakin’s case, with the help of his mother, we’ve strengthened his abilities to interact with other people and make friends, and ad the same time we could strengthen the family bonds”, teacher Jackeline stated.
After the medical procedure, Jakin went into a depression crisis because he had to be at rest and avoid doing activities that involve some kind of movement and effort, but Annerys, with a lot of faith, continued her accompaniment with the help of the teachers.
The mother states that “The medics in Maicao didn’t give any life expectancy to Jakin and the struggle with the Insurance Company’ authorizations made me look for other medical opinions, and there I found San Vicente Fundación Hospital, with an unmatched medical staff, where they welcomed and gave us attention, with love, and now with the help of the Hospital Classroom teachers, I realized that my son has a long road in front of him and I’ll strive with him as long as God gives me strength”.
