This project is to build a hostel on site at Lengijave Secondary School to ensure girls stay at school during term time to study and complete their education without being kept at home to help with the family or in the fields. Girls are very often held back at home and therefore lose out on valuable education which gives them the opportunity to have a career and to be successful. These girls deserve to have the potential to do whatever they choose in life rather than marrying early or pregnancy
At present girls are often missing their valuable education by being held back at home either to assist with family or work in the fields. This leads often to early marriage and/or pregnancy with is not good for their health or education and therefore the probability of leading independent lives with access to careers is very low.
This project will enable a hostel to be built in the school grounds to provide residential accommodation so that girls would stay on site during term time ensuring their can access education and study without interruption. This will allow them the same opportunities as the boys and encourage them to reach their potential and be successful in the world.
More girls being able to complete their high school education and access higher education and employment. Better health and economic impact for girls/women over time. More education will also enable early marriage, unemployment and poor living standards being greatly reduced and girls/women having more confidence in their abilities and talents to make their way in the world. There are role models of women own higher careers in Tanzania but these are not from the types of areas we work in.
