The Foundation for Access to Rights - FAR is a Bulgarian NGO, which provides legal aid and information to migrants, refugees, asylum seekers and stateless people. This project aims to improve the access to information and legal aid to refugees and migrants in Bulgaria through a hotline service. The hotline service is part of the holistic voice and digital tools that FAR uses to support refugees' and migrants' integration in Bulgaria.
In Bulgaria refugees' and migrants' access to rights is often hindered. It is almost impossible for them to navigate asylum and family reunification procedures without assistance. They are unable to exercise their human rights, such as asylum, safety, liberty, family unity, labor, etc. To integrate in the country they need information and legal assistance in many aspects of everyday life, such as humanitarian aid, housing, employment, entrepreneurship, family-related issues, education, etc.
FAR supports refugees and migrants through its hotline (in English, Russian, Ukrainian and Bulgarian). We provide high quality information from experts on topical questions of interest regarding access to rights and many aspects of everyday life in Bulgaria. The hotline officers have been trained on the content of the Refugeelight.BG platform and are in constant contact with the legal team and the field officers at FAR. Our field workers provide legal aid and information in 6 cities.
By providing refugees, migrants and stateless persons with quality legal information and assistance we empower them. As an immediate outcome of our work, our beneficiaries can access fair and efficient asylum and statelessness status determination procedures and legal remedies. In the long-term the FAR team works towards a society where all refugees, migrants and stateless people are integrated and exercise the full spectrum of their human rights.
