New House rented and renovated

One of the new rooms!

Hello everyone!

Greetings from Thailand – we hope that you are doing well and that you enjoy a good week! Here at Tamar, we had a wonderful start to the new year. We had many extra outreaches, a big party for the women still working in the bars, the biggest Valentine Outreach that we ever had and much more. We have been busy!!!

We were also very lucky and able to rent from the 1st of March another house in our street. We needed another one, as two new women moved from the bars into Tamar Housing, and we also wanted to have a bit more space for the upcoming Training. The house has been freshly renovated by the owner and we were happy to be able to rent it straight from him. In the last weeks we have gotten new mattrasses delivered, moved some furniture around, got a fridge and bought a stove, gas bottle and all the little things that you need to make the house a nice place for the women to stay in. Thank you for your help and your generosity in making it possible for us to always have some rooms ready for women that want to move in.

Currently, we are negotiating with the owner of another house in our street. This house is just opposite our nursery and would be a perfect addition to our houses. It is a bit smaller than the other once but perfect for women that have been a bit longer with us. Sadly, the owner just raised the price, and we are not sure if we want to start paying this price… But we hope that we can come to an arrangement with him.

In the moment there are the big school holidays in Thailand – the school year finishes in March and starts again in the middle of May and so we have all eighteen (!) children now staying at home more – some are still doing a summer school. Our Nursery is too small to keep all these children entertained and the big kids and the small once also do not play as well together. Therefore, we have transformed the big living room of one of our other houses into a temporary child play area and the bigger kids are spending time together there now. It is nice to see them play table tennis and other things throughout the day!

Thank you again for your faithful support for our project. We are very thankful for your help!
