The fashion and design Incubator and accelerator will provide skills development in collaboration with a vocational training institution to 40 fashion and design practitioners in urban and rural Tanzania. The products and services developed will be linked to both domestic and international markets using and e-commerce platform. The project will later train fashion and design practitioners in Uganda and Kenya.
Many youth and women are practitioners in the fashion and design value chain who are self taught, however the quality of their products as well as market access are compromised due to poor quality finishing and lack of clarity of the market. This has resulted in the products not exploiting the regional, continental and international markets.
Through skills development training, this project will enhance co-creation between artisans and fashion designers, and transfer knowledge and skills on product development, marketing and logistics to get the products to clients through an e-commerce platform called SanaaBiz.
The long-term impact is the economic empowerment of youth and women in the fashion and design value chain by producing globally competitive products and services
