How Will You Show Mental Health is Important to You?
At Give an Hour, we have a lofty goal. We want to change the culture of mental health and educate everyone to pay attention to their mental health as much as they do their physical health.
During A Week to Change Direction - a week-long virtual event May 10-16, we invite everyone around the world to share how they are taking care of their mental health. Check on someone you care about as well as check in with yourself. Give someone a call, set up a video chat, email, or text. Spend a few minutes when you wake up or before you go to sleep to ask yourself “how am I today?” Staying connected is a way that we can stay emotionally healthy.
Encourage each other to make this a routine practice…start now…start in May..sign up here for A Week to Change Direction. With almost 25% of the global population – one in four - suffering from a mental disorder, early diagnosis and treatment is important. Share one of our translated Five Signs of Emotional Suffering posters. See links for free resources.
This year, A Week to Change Direction will host three online events: See links below to register.
Tuesday, May 11 at 2 PM EST: Twitter Chat: Coming out of the Pandemic: What’s Next for our Mental Health?
Wednesday, May 12 at 3 PM EST – Collective Impact: Communities Collaborating to Improve Mental Health
Thursday, May 13 at 3 PM EST - Importance of Mental Health and Wellbeing for a Professional Athlete
A Week to Change Direction has been a success for many years, touching hundreds of thousands across the world. This year is different. It will be much harder to reach the same amount of people virtually across the world without your help.
Thank you GlobalGiving donors for your continued support. Especially during May Mental Health awareness month, it is important to help inspire others to prioritize their mental health and create healthy habits. We’re all stronger together. We thank you for your help to #ChangeDirection.
