Now more than ever, it is important to find the balance between work, school, hobbies, self-care and other responsibilities. Connecting with others is more important than you might think. Social connection can lower anxiety and depression, help us regulate our emotions, lead to higher self-esteem and empathy, and actually improve our immune systems. Research also shows us that loneliness is on the rise, and that a lack of human connection can be more harmful to your health than obesity, smoking and high blood pressure. In a world with over seven billion people, we all need connections.

Join Give an Hour to reach out, provide hope and help for mental wellbeing

As we look to September Suicide Awareness Month, Give an Hour is launching two mental health awareness projects to highlight the importance of connections: to reach out, to provide hope and help for mental wellbeing.

Did you know that suicide in the US is the 10th leading cause of death and worldwide one person every 40 seconds takes their life?

Again this year, we are asking our GlobalGiving donors, their friends and family to the Connect to Hope campaign to prevent suicide by connecting, spreading and giving hope.

• Learn the Five Signs of Emotional Suffering and Healthy Habits
• Share a post or image that makes you feel hopeful
• Licensed mental health providers can join our network to provide mental health services, support and education to populations in need

To continue to provide hope and help during September, we have launched a brand new and meaningful project to teach you how to take care of yourself in order to be able to take care of others. The 180 Playbook kicked off with a webinar on August 18th featuring Actress Stephanie Szostak of ABC’s A Million Little Things and Showtime Sean Porter two-time Welterweight boxer. Over the next few months, we will learn how to create healthy habits to replace the negative thoughts and fears with positive ones to help you live your best life.
Learn to create your own personal 180 Playbook to set your mind on positive and hopeful messages. Start each morning with your own personally created inspiration - words, photos or videos of aspiration - in your 180 Playbook to start your self-care routine that you have personally created. No need to share with anyone!
We value our GlobalGiving donors and we invite you to join us in the next few months as we learn the importance of creating a healthy mindset.
Our goal in September is to empower and enhance support through connection;
to stop suicide before it begins. We can’t do it alone.

PS: DON’T FORGET - Give to Give an Hour during the GlobalGiving Little by Little Campaign on September 13 – 17th. GlobalGiving will match up to 50% all donations up to $50. You next donation goes farther.
