This project will build an extension class room at Reason Foundation School to enable us enhance and extend affordable but yet quality secular education for children-at-risk and orphans, from poor families and those with special needs in Mbarara District south western Uganda. The the classroom structure will provide study space/shelter to 50 extra children to attend class in a conducive environment. currently we have limited space and yet we would love to accommodate more children.
Children orphaned by HIV and those from poor vulnerable families do not have the opportunity to go to school or complete primary school in Mbarara District. This is because private/commercial education is very expensive while public education program provided by government does not reach everyone as public schools are not well distributed in our communities. the two factors leave majority children from poor families with less options to acquire affordable but yet quality secular education.
To solve the problem, Freedom Centre-Uganda has been supporting vulnerable children to acquire secular education through establishment of Reason Foundation School. through this project, we will construct one extension class room(block) to create conducive study space for extra 50 children. we will furnish the classroom with desks and space for children to keep their belongings. the extra class structure will enable teachers to provider quality education in an environment that is conducive
Construction of an extra class will enable us enroll more 50 vulnerable children at Reason foundation school project building their future as responsible educated citizens, instilling values and culture of enquiry, critical thinking and raise one's self and also be useful to others. the extra class structure will also elevate Reason Foundation School (REFO-school) to a growing Humanist school and be a centre of excellence in offering secular education in Mbarara-Uganda and in East Africa.
