Challenge

Yemen has been deemed the world's worst humanitarian crisis by the United Nations. Currently, 80% of the population - over 24 million people - are in need of aid. The Yemen Relief and Reconstruction Foundation has three strategic aims: increasing awareness of the humanitarian crisis underway in Yemen, facilitating humanitarian aid projects, and advocating for a just and lasting peace in Yemen.

Solution

The Yemen Relief & Reconstruction Foundation works through a wide network of local volunteers throughout Yemen to deliver much needed aid. We work in areas that are inaccessible due to war or geography. We have successfully provided services including food baskets to hundreds of thousands of people, water filters to thousands, and warm clothing, school bags and school supplies to kids and schools. We also sponsor orphans, providing them with financial, medical and educational support.

Long-Term Impact

Our services provide families in need with life saving services. Food baskets reduce the risk of malnutrition; water filters protect against diarrheal diseases including cholera; school support equips children in Yemen with the skills they need to make a better future for themselves and to rebuild their country when peace returns. We recognize that our work is necessary because of the particular conditions that have impacted the country and is not a substitute for a just and lasting peace.
