Dear Friends & Supporters,

The Build for Education in Humla Project has been setup to provide clean, safe and supportive teaching facilities for over 2,600 pupils and 112 teachings staff in the region.  Many government schools in Humla are not fit for purpose.  A prime focus will be to ensure that girls receive similar choices to boys and raise their educational standards and life chances.

We have delivered the furniture to the Kote School and are now preparing the plans for the building renovation for 8 schools in year 1.

The local government is co-funding the building renovation.

A field trip is planned by our Management in Simikot to plan the preparation an inspection of buildings, WASH facilities, furniture, external features including fencing and gabion walls etc.

We will start renovating the Swayambu School, see attached photos.  The situation at this school is very poor as children sit without furniture, in a leaking building. A very bleak environment for children to learn in.

A National Election will take place in Nepal on November 20th, 2022.  Many roads have been blocked in South Humla due to weather, which makes it challenging to transport construction materials like GI sheets and cement to the project areas.

I’m sure you will appreciate that good facilities will help teachers deliver a better education for both boys and girls.  Good educational opportunities will raise overall standards and help to close the gender gap of educational attainment between boys and girls.  Nearly 3,000 pupils and staff will benefit in year one and this will also support their wider families as knowledge is disseminated.

Thank you for reading and please donate to support our Build for Education in Humla Project in the remote Himalayas.

Namaste.
