WHY ARE WOMEN MORE AFFECTED BY HUNGER THAN MEN? Of the 276 million people who suffer from food insecurity, almost two-thirds are women and girls. The local communities affected by the food crisis are at the forefront of the challenges faced by girls and women. When costs rise & crops fail, family assets are sold to buy food. In desperation, families are separated as parents leave in search of work, water & food. Children are often left at home with an older sister. This prevents them from sch.
This season, your donation will help over 7,000 women in their families obtain federal nutrition assistance; support a network of more than 100 food pantries in the region; and push for strong child nutrition legislation, so all women can get the food they need.
A can of soup will feed a child for a meal, but a small donation can feed a family for a year. By helping more people obtain federal nutrition assistance, the Coalition ensures thousands of families can put food on their tables this year.
