The "Lifeline for Equality: Hunger Relief Fund for LGBTIQ Communities in Uganda" aims to provide immediate food assistance,emergency relief, water, medicine and other essential supplies to LGBTIQ individuals facing severe food insecurity due to the socio-economic impacts of the Anti-Homosexuality Act of 2024. This initiative seeks to address the urgent nutritional needs of 500 LGBTIQ individuals in rural Uganda, who are particularly vulnerable due to discrimination, job loss, and eviction.
The LGBTIQ community in rural Uganda is experiencing severe food insecurity due to systemic discrimination and the Anti-Homosexuality Act of 2024. This law has led to widespread unemployment, evictions, and increased violence, pushing many into extreme poverty and hunger. Approximately 70% of LGBTIQ individuals in these areas face moderate to severe hunger, with chronic malnutrition prevalent. Social ostracization and fear of persecution prevent access to aid.
This project will provide emergency food relief to the LGBTIQ community in rural Uganda, ensuring immediate access to nutritious meals. By establishing a reliable food distribution network and collaborating with local partners, we will address the urgent hunger crisis. Additionally, we will offer safe spaces for food collection to protect beneficiaries from discrimination and violence, thus promoting food security and stability in their lives.
The long-term impact of this project includes improved health and well-being for LGBTIQ individuals in rural Uganda, fostering resilience and stability. By ensuring consistent access to nutritious food, we aim to reduce hunger-related health issues and enhance overall quality of life. Additionally, this initiative will empower the community, encouraging self-sufficiency and reducing dependency on emergency aid, ultimately promoting lasting social and economic development.
